Canada Place Showcases Debut Illumivision Installation
(Edmonton, AB) -- November 09, 2005 -- Illumivision Incorporated, a world leader in design and marketing of high performance solid-state lighting systems, today announced the first landmark installation of the world renowned Canada Place situated in the waterfront of downtown Vancouver, British Columbia.
Officially unveiled to the public today, Canada Place features ten distinctive fabric sails that were designed to resemble an ocean liner under full sail. The 400 foot (121.92m) long futuristic structure is surrounded by 40 Light Wave LX fixtures running seven pre-programmed shows to create a spectacular color-changing waterfront centerpiece. Each sail is approximately 80 feet (24.38m) wide and 90 feet (27.04m) tall.
The dynamic lighting design was conceptualized by Canada Place Corporation who proposed the idea of high efficiency solid-state lighting as a way to save energy costs and provide an updated look to the world renowned Canada Place. In order to complete the design needs, 40 Light Wave LX fixtures were mounted around the architectural landmark on top of the current promenade light standards. The Light Wave LX is a high performance solid-state fixture that is capable of providing vivid color changing capabilities and dynamic color changing scenes. It is the perfect solid-state solution for small to large, indoor or outdoor architectural facades.
Canada Place, a mixed-use commercial facility, is home to the Vancouver Convention and Exhibition Centre, The Pan Pacific Hotel, The Vancouver Port Authority Corporate Offices, Cruise Ship Terminal (Operated by the Vancouver Port Authority), The CN IMAX Theatre, World Trade Centre Office Complex and Citipark parking facility.
